Butterscotch is a type of confectionery whose primary ingredients are brown sugar and butter, although other ingredients are part of some recipes, such as corn syrup, cream, vanilla and salt. Butterscotch is similar to toffee, but for butterscotch, the sugar is boiled to the ‘soft crack’ stage, and not ‘hard crack’, as for toffee. The more common usage of butterscotch (specifically a butterscotch sauce) revolves around ice cream and milkshake toppings. Our MONIN Butterscotch syrup offers a lovely nostalgia, immediately giving a lovely wave of caramel and butter on the palate, and holding strong for a smooth, long finish.
